The Miami Dolphins signed backup wide receiver Griff Whalen, team announced on Friday.
Whalen, a four-year veteran, caught a career-best 19 passes for 205 yards and one touchdown last season. The Dolphins are looking for depth at receiver after releasing veteran Greg Jennings and losing former starter Rishard Matthews to the Tennessee Titans in free agency.
Whalen also has the ability to play special teams. He had nine kickoff returns for 244 yards and 12 punt returns for 85 yards last season.
