The Miami Dolphins are notifying players that they have been released, looking to get the roster down to the 53-man limit that goes into effect at 4pm ET today. The team started the day at 74 players on the active roster, meaning 21 roster moves have to be made.
The first of those was an obvious one. Cornerback Chris Culliver, who signed as a free agent this summer but is still rehabbing from a knee surgery, was moved from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list to the Reserve/PUP list. That move frees a roster spot for the Dolphins, but means Culliver will be unable to practice until after the sixth week of the season.
