The release of Jennings was not expected. It saves $4 million in cap space and last year Jenning’s play on the field did not come close to his contract. It’s very well likely that Jennings will call it a career.
The move to restructure Suh was also expected. By converting some of his contract to a signing bonus the Dolphins were able to free up $18 million in cap space but will see his cap number increase by around $4 million over the life of the contract. Suh’s contract was written with the option for Miami to convert the money and they did not need to negotiate with Suh regarding it.
