News broke on Wednesday that the Miami Dolphins released veteran punter Brandon Fields in favor of the younger, undrafted free agent rookie Matt Darr for the 2015-2016 NFL season. The camp battle between Darr and Fields was somewhat overshadowed by the field goal kicking competition between Caleb Sturgis and Andrew Franks, but was just as competitive as both punters have performed well throughout training camp and the preseason.
Although Darr was victorious in the punting battle, he is still a rookie and has big shoes to fill considering Fields tenure with the team. Darr acknowledges that the job was not just given to him and he worked hard to gain the starting position.
