Punters are rarely in the top five of a team’s most productive players, but that’s where Matt Darr ranks with the Dolphins. He’s that good.
In last week’s 30-24 victory against Cleveland, the Dolphins’ first possession of overtime stalled at their own 44-yard line. Enter Darr, who ranks 10th in the NFL in punting average at 48.2 yards. His 47-yard punt went out of bounds at Cleveland’s 9-yard line, leaving the Browns 91 yards from the end zone.
“He saved the game for us,” coach Adam Gase said.
Gase was dead serious.
