The Miami Dolphins on Monday promoted special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi to assistant head coach.
The Miami Dolphins have added a new title to special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi's resume on Monday. The team announced they are naming him to the position of assistant head. Officially, he will be the "assistant head coach/special teams coordinator" for the Dolphins for the remainder of the season.
Rizzi seemed like a logical choice to take the interim head coach position for the Dolphins, as he was the only member of Joe Philbin's staff with head coaching experience. Rizzi spent three years as the head coach at New Haven and one year as the head coach at Rhode Island.
