DAVIE (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins have officially placed safety Louis Delmas on season-ending injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday.
This move was more a formality as it’s been known for almost a week that Delmas tore the same ACL that ended his 2014 season last December. The injury took place during a joint practice between the Dolphins and the Carolina Panthers at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The 28-year-old hard hitting safety signed a one-year deal worth $3.5 million during the offseason despite the initial injury. His base salary for 2015 is $1.4 million.
Delmas has been injury prone throughout his career and the Dolphins were well aware of the risk when they originally signed him last year.
