Dolphins kicker Caleb Sturgis, whom the team announced would miss the rest of spring practice due to a thigh injury, sustained the injury during a team-sanctioned kickball game, Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. This according to a source..

The injury is to Sturgis’ left, non-kicking leg and isn’t considered serious. But Sturgis won’t kick during next week’s organized team activities and he’ll miss the June 16-18 minicamp.Undrafted rookie Andrew Franks is handling placekicking duties in Sturgis’ absence.

It’s unclear exactly when Sturgis sustained his injury but the Dolphins were playing kickball as a recreational/team-building activity when it occurred, according to the source.
