DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins will experience a rare taste of free agency in November thanks to unique circumstances.
This week marks the much-anticipated debut of starting safety T.J. McDonald. The Dolphins signed McDonald during free agency to sure up the secondary. However, Miami signed McDonald knowing he had to serve an eight-game suspension for violating the NFL's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
It was the longest stretch of inactivity for McDonald during his college and pro career, he said.
