The Miami Dolphins have completed their formal interview with former Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith, the team announced Monday. Smith was the first person to interview for Miami’s head coaching vacancy.
Smith was 66-46 in seven seasons with the Falcons. Atlanta made the playoff four times under Smith, including a run to the NFC Championship Game in 2012.
The Dolphins (6-10) are in the beginning stages of an extensive search. Vice president Mike Tannenbaum also confirmed they will interview former longtime head coach Mike Shanahan on Tuesday.
