DAVIE - The Miami Dolphins will be forced to play without rookie cornerback Xavien Howard for at least a month because of a knee injury he suffered in practice earlier this week.
Howard, a former Baylor standout who was the Dolphins' 2016 second-round pick, had served as Miami's starting left side cornerback for the first four games. But he re-injured a meniscus in his right knee in a collision with receiver Kenny Stills during 1-on-1s earlier this week.
"It's really going to be how the rehab goes. How fast is he going to be able to come back," coach Adam Gase said of Howard, who had contributed 22 tackles, three pass breakups and forced one fumble in Miami's first four games.
