Dolphins backup LB Mike Hull ready to step up if needed

DAVIE, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins players and coaches are unsure if they will have starting middle linebacker Kiko Alonso. The team’s leading tackler was a non-participant in practice Wednesday due to thumb and hamstring injuries.

Enter second-year linebacker Mike Hull, who could make his first NFL start Sunday in place of Alonso against the Arizona Cardinals. Hull would have the responsibilities of calling the defensive signals and manning the middle of Miami’s defense.

“I think it would be a great opportunity for me,” Hull said. “I’ve been working every week of the season like I’m going to be the starter, just one play away.
