The Miami Dolphins signed free agent Griff Whalen on Friday, the team announced. Whalen. 26, was released by the Indianapolis Colts in January after placing him on inured reserve with broken ribs late in the season. He spent his first four years in the league with the Colts.
Signed initially as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford, joining his Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, Whalen (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) spent his rookie season on injured reserve after breaking his foot at the end of the preseason. In 2013, he appeared in nine games, with three starts, catching 24 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns.
