The Denver Broncos traded up with the Detroit Lions and selected Shane Ray with the 23rd overall pick. Here's the scouting report, courtesy of Shasky Clarke (@sclarkenfl).
After hinting at greatness in 2013 behind Michael Sam and Kony Ealy, Shane Ray exploded onto the scene in 2014, finishing with 13.5 sacks and over 20 tackles for loss as a full time starter. He was productive outside as well as inside, where he often lined up in sub-packages on third downs.
Ray is a fantastic athlete with great movement skills. He is a pure speed rusher with a great motor and he gets into the backfield with ease and special quickness.
