Daniel Thomas returns to the Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins simply dusted off old game tape to evaluate a veteran tailback the team feels can help replace former starter Lamar Miller, who signed with the Texans.

According to a league source, the Dolphins re-signed Daniel Thomas, the former Kansas State standout the franchise made a second-round selection in the 2011 draft.

Thomas spent last training camp with the Chicago Bears, and during his tenure in Chicago new Dolphins head coach Adam Gase became a fan of his work. Gase lobbied for Miami to re-sign Thomas, 28, on the same day Miami added Isaiah Pead, another former second-round pick, to the backfield.
