The Miami Dolphins traded starting left tackle Branden Albert to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason, moving second-year lineman Laremy Tunsil from guard to his natural position as the team’s new left tackle. In return, the Dolphins received a 2018 seventh-round draft choice, a pick that was not conditional - meaning the Dolphins receive the pick no matter how much or how little Albert plays for the Jaguars.
Or at all.
Monday morning, Albert announced his retirement. In statement released via Jaguars.com, Albert said:
“After nine seasons playing in the National Football League, I have decided to retire from the game that has given me so much.
