The Dolphins converted a big chunk of Miisi’s 2017 salary, $1.7 million to a guarantee. The move gave Miami more cap spending but the guarantee comes with the knowledge that Misi may not play this year. In fact, he may not play again, anywhere.
In 2016 Misi suffered a neck injury that was originally feared to be career ending. It still may be. With training camp now two weeks away, Misi has yet to be cleared to practice and he won’t play unless he gets practice in.
The Dolphins have options. They could put him on IR to start training camp, which will likely happen and they could keep that designation when the season begins in the hopes that Misi will be able to return later in the year.
