The Miami Dolphins struggled to a 6-10 record last season, in a year that saw head coach Joe Philbin fired mid-way through the season. Interim coach Dan Campbell provided a bit of a boost after taking over, but the team struggled late. Adam Gase is the new head coach, and he'll be tasked with getting the Dolphins back to the playoffs. In order for Gase and the Dolphins to make the playoffs, there are several areas they need to upgrade. Here is who we think that Dolphins will pick in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft:
Round 1, Pick #13 - Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson Tigers
Adding Alexander fills a big need for the Dolphins at the cornerback position. The Dolphins traded for Byron Maxwell, but the team still needs corner help opposite him. Alexander is an agressive prospect who is excellent in man-to-man coverage - making him a perfect fit for what Miami is trying to do.
Round 2, Pick #42 - Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama Crimson Tide
Miami has a huge need at running back after losing Lamar Miller to the Houston Texans, but there's a good chance Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliott will be off the board by the time they draft in the first round. If that's the case, they'll draft Alexander and turn their attention to Henry, the reigning Heisman trophy winner. A Florida native, Henry in the kind of physical downhill running the Dolphins have been desperately looking for, adding a legitimate weapon that can take some pressure off of quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Round 3, Pick #73 - Landon Turner, OG, North Carolina Tar Heels
The Dolphins have an offensive line full of mediocre guards, but Turner has the potential to be a game-changer. At 6'4" and 330 lbs, he's a dominant run blocker that will really improve Miami's lackluster rushing attack. He does have some athletic limitations, but he's an extremely strong prospect that could start from day one.
