With the regular season over, the Miami Dolphins have turned their attention to the offseason. The team's first priority is re-signing its own players, and the Dolphins have several key contributors they need to bring back next season, but also a few they could elect to get rid of. Here are three players the Dolphins may cut this offseason:
DE Mario Williams
Williams signed a a two-year, $17 million deal with Miami last offseason, with most of the guaranteed money being paid out in the first year. He failed to make any real impact for the Dolphins, recording just 13 tackles and a sack and half while mostly serving as a rotation player. Williams is on the books for $10.5 million next year - it's virtually a guarantee the Dolphins will release him.
DE Dion Jordan
The same can be said about Dion Jordan. The No. 3 pick in the 2013 draft has been an epic bust, missing each of the last two seasons due to multiple drug suspensions. Miami will save $3.225 million against the cap by cutting him.
DT Earl Mitchell
Another defensive lineman, Mitchell posted a career low in tackles (17) and didn't record a sack for the second straight season. He has also had each of the past two years cut short due to injury, raising questions about his durability moving forward. With the Dolphins owing him $4.5 million next year, he's another easy candidate to be a cap casualty.
