While other NFL teams are still searching for a head coach, the Miami Dolphins are hiring a defensive coordinator. The team hired Bengals assistant Vance Joseph Tuesday, per Adam Schefter.
Joseph will handle the defensive side of the ball under new head coach Adam Gase. There was speculation Joseph could follow current Bengals' OC Hue Jackson if Jackson landed a head coaching job this offseason.
Joseph is considered a rising star in the coaching ranks. This will be the first defensive coordinator job for the 43-year old coach. It was only a matter of time before and NFL team hired Joseph as DC.
Joseph was an NFL corner for two seasons, playing for the Jets and Colts. He spent a few seasons coaching in the college ranks, mostly as a defensive backs coach.
He started his NFL career with the 49ers in 2005 as an assistant DBs coach. He served as DBs coach with the 49ers, Texans and then the Bengals.
