The Miami Dolphins officially start their search for a new head coach today after beating the New England Patriots in their regular season finale, and there's plenty of muddle to sort through when deciphering fact from fiction in their search. Here's all the latest rumors surrounding the Dolphins in their quest to find a new coach:
Sean Payton will not be going to Miami
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton may end up leaving the team for another opportunity as the Saints prepare for another rebuild. Many teams with coaching vacancies have already put him at the top of their wish lists, but Payton has already ruled the Dolphins out as a potential destination, according to ProFootballTalk:
If Sean Payton is leaving New Orleans, he won't be going to Miami, per league source.

As for New Orleans, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that GM Mickey Loomis will meet with Payton on Monday to discuss his future with the franchise. Glazer adds that the possibility of whether or not a team is willing to give up a second-round pick via trade for Payton could be a topic of conversation during the meeting.
Dolphins set to interview Dan Campbell, Mike Shanahan
Miami's first scheduled interview is with former Broncos and Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan, who will interview with the team tomorrow, according to FOX Sports' Alex Marvez. Shanahan has been out of coaching since being fired by the Redskins in 2013, but has an itch to get back into coaching. The 63-year-old has a career record of 170-138 during his 20-year career while winning two Super Bowl titles in Denver.
Campbell finished the season as the interim head coach of the Miami Dolphins, and will get a chance to interview for the permanent position on Friday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Campbell took over for Joe Philbin after he was fired by the Dolphins and led Miami to a 5-7 record.
