Dolphins News: Miami Signs QB Ryan Tannehill To Blockbuster Contract Extension

The Miami Dolphins have their franchise quarterback locked up through the remainder of the decade, coming to terms with Ryan Tannehill on a blockbuster contract extension that will keep him on South Beach through the 2020 season.

Here's NFL.com's Conor Orr with the report:

According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the four-year extension includes $77 million in new money. The Dolphinsnow have their quarterback under contract for $95 million over six years in total. $25 million is fully guaranteed, with $45 million in "guarantees" over the life of the deal. (Tannehill has to be on the roster to earn those guarantees.)

Tannehill set new personal bests in completion percentage, touchdowns (27) and pasing yards (4,045) during his banner 2014 season. Tannehill has a litany of new offensive weapons at his disposal going into 2015 -- upgrades which the Dolphins hope will help push Tannehill to elite status.

The 26-year-old signal caller is the first of the big four QBs from the 2012 NFL Draft class (Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck, and Robert Griffin III being the others) to secure a second contract.
