Dolphins News: Bret Bielema Says Job Talks With Miami In 2012 Broke Off Over Russell Wilson

The Miami Dolphins interviewed then-Wisconsin Badgers head coach Bret Bielema for their head coaching job back in 2012, but the Dolphins ended up cutting off talks with Bielema insisted that the team select his quarterback, now-Seattle Seahawks signal caller Russell Wilson, in the upcoming NFL Draft.

"One hundred percent," Bielema said, via NFL.com. "They all looked at me like, 'You can't say that. That's the difference between college and pro. He's undersized. He can't throw.' I was like, 'OK, all right,' and I honestly, that day, kind of pulled myself out of it."

The Dolphins balked at Bielema, eventually hiring head coach Joe Philbin and drafting Ryan Tannehill with the #8 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Seattle, on the other hand, would pick up Wilson in the third round - a decision that has obviously paid off for them as they battle the New England Patriots in hopes of winning their second-straight Super Bowl championship this coming Sunday.
