The NFL Draft will start in just over a month, and there will be plenty of trades. That's just the nature of the draft, although those trades are very difficult to predict. One of the teams that could be movers early in the draft is the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have already moved down once in the draft in a deal with the Eagles, and might not be done yet.
To help determine the value of each pick and what it would cost, we're using the NFL trade value chart. While the trade values won't match up exactly, we tried to get them as close to even as possible. With that in mind, here are three trades the Dolphins could make in the NFL Draft.
3. Trade Up With The Giants:
Dolphins Get: No. 10 overall
Giants Get: No. 13 overall, 4th round pick (No. 107 overall), 5th round pick (No. 147 overall)
In this scenario, the Dolphins jump past the Saints and Bears, both teams that could be in the market for CB help. There's a chance Vernon Hargreaves or Mackenzie Alexander will still be on the board at that point and the Dolphins could attempt to move up and land one of those two. After all, Byron Maxwell won't cure their CB problems. The Dolphins actually get better value in this deal, but might not want to give up two picks. And the Giants might want to stay at their spot.
2. Trade Up With The 49ers:
Dolphins Get: No. 7 overall pick
49ers Get: No. 13 overall pick, 3rd round pick (No. 73 overall), 4th round pick (No. 107 overall)
The 49ers love to move down, and they could do so if they think they can still get Jared Goff or whomever they are targeting. Doing this would allow the Dolphins to go get a CB or even jump the Eagles if they really want Ezekiel Elliott. While the Dolphins once again get better value in this deal, they might not want to part with a 3rd and a 4th rounder.
1. Trade Down With Jets
Dolphins Get: No. 19 overall pick, No. 83 overall pick, 2017 second rounder
Jets Get: No. 13 overall pick
The Jets are stuck behind the Falcons, Colts, Lions and Bills. All four of those teams could take a defensive player, and the Jets might get anxious on draft day. If that happens, they might be willing to trade up to get a coveted defensive player. It'd be a bit tricky for the Jets and Dolphins to make a move, since teams don't often like dealing within their conference and the trade values are off. But, if the Jets really want someone, they might be willing to do it.
