The Miami Dolphins got their season started with a convincing win over the Redskins, and now look to carry that momentum into this weekend's matchup against the Jaguars. Here are three reasons why the Dolphins will improve to 2-0 on the season:
3) Ndamukong Suh and the defensive line
The Jacksonville Jaguars' offensive line is maybe a half-step above pathetic, and that might be generous. Dolphins management handed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh a massive multi-year deal for games like this -- games where his mere presence and push from the tackle spot will help to collapse poorly-constructed pockets and wreak absolute chaos in the backfield. For Miami to win, all they really need to do is ensure that Suh suits up. It's pretty simple.
2) Jacksonville's lackluster offense
The Jaguars have a decent defense, but their offense is one of the worst in the league. They rely on a ton of rookies and second-year players, most notably quarterback Blake Bortles and running back T.J. Yeldon, and it shows. Jacksonville turned the ball over three times and only gained 265 total yards against the Panthers in their Week 1 loss, and only scored nine points. It's not going to get any easier against the Dolphins.
1) Ryan Tannehill's dominance
Entering year number four, Ryan Tannehill is set to parlay an impressive 2014 campaign into a reserved spot among the NFL's elite quarterbacks. Tannehill has bumped up his quarterback rating each year, from 76.1 in 2012, to 81.7 in 2013, and finally to a robust 92.8 in 2014. He's a superstar in waiting, and his new cache of aerial weapons (DeVante Parker, Kenny Stills, Greg Jennings, Jordan Cameron) will only aid in that process.
He played well against the Redskins, passing for 226 yards and one touchdown. Look for him to put up more eye-popping numbers against the Jaguars on Sunday.
