The Miami Dolphins fired head coach Joe Philbin early this season and they're still searching for their next head coach. While Sean Payton is likely at the top of the fan's wishlist, that likely won't be happening. With Payton off the board, the next best option is current Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson. The team has already asked to interview Jackson and they'll do so once the Bengals are eliminated from the playoffs. Jackson is the perfect option for the Dolphins and it helps that his old agent, Mike Tannenbaum, works in the Dolphins' front office. With that in mind, here are 3 Reasons Why The Dolphins Should Hire Hue Jackson:
3. Bright Offensive Mind
Jackson doesn't always make the correct play call, something no offensive coordinator does. However, Jackson has proven once again this year that's he a great offensive coach. He's helped Andy Dalton, before he was injured, post a career-best season. Jackson can get a little too cute at times, but there's no doubt he's a great offensive mind. He's great at sticking to the run, something the Dolphins failed to do this season. The offense struggled this year and Jackson is exactly what the team needs.
2. More Than Just Time With Bengals
Jackson is best known as the current Bengals' offensive coordinator, but he's more than that. He coached Carson Palmer at USC, with the Bengals and and when he was the head coach of the Raiders. Jackson got a team with little talent to an 8-8 record and that's mighty impressive. He's also coached under coaches like Marty Schottenheimer, Steve Spurrier and John Harbaugh. He played a big role in the development of Palmer and Joe Flacco. He has a resume that's rivaled by few other coaching options (Miami isn't going after Sean Payton) and the Dolphins would be lucky to land Jackson.
1. Perfect For Ryan Tannehill
While not all Dolphins fan like Tannehill, he's the team's franchise quarterback. The team must build around Tannehill and that includes finding a coach who will get the most out of Tannehill. Jackson turned Dalton into a MVP candidate this season, so just imagine what he can do with a more talented QB in Tannehill. If the Dolphins hire Jackson, he'll have the Tannehill playing better than ever and the Dolphins competing for a playoff berth once again.
