The Miami Dolphins don't have giant need at the quarterback position with Ryan Tannehill under center, but he has been very inconsistent throughout his career and backup Matt Moore will be a free agent after next season. As such, they are looking at a few quarterbacks in the upcoming draft. Here are the three signal callers they are the most likely to draft:
3) Trevor Knight, Texas A&M Aggies
This is cheating a little bit, as Knight is still listed as quarterback but is a player who will likely need to transition to wide out. Knight is a great athlete, but lacks the size, arm strength and accuracy to be a QB in the NFL. He might want to stick at QB, but if he wants to hang around in the NFL, it will likely have to come as a WR or even a safety. Miami could bring him on as a wide receiver and emergency QB, a la Joe Webb in Carolina.
2) Jerod Evans, Virginia Tech Hokies
If you're looking for a developmental QB that you don't need to take on the first two days, Evans might be your guy. He's still raw, starting only one year at Virginia Tech. Evans has great size, a strong arm and was productive at VT. He needs time to develop and has a long way to go in terms of mastering an NFL offense, but if he has several years to learn, he might just end up as a starting-caliber QB.
1) Brad Kaaya, Miami Hurricanes
Before the season, Kaaya was projected to be a first round pick due to his upside and ability to take care of the ball, but all of his flaws became exposed in 2016. He struggles under pressure and really lacks mobility, with some NFL teams even questioning his leadership ability. However, Kaaya has also flashed an elite arm and is an excellent pocket passer - when given time. He is certainly a developmental prospect, but the upside is still there.
