The Miami Dolphins are a team with playoff talent, but for some reason, they haven't been able to put it all together and actually make the postseason. The biggest reason why? Some of those players aren't quite as good as many think they are. Here are the three most overrated players on the Dolphins:
QB Ryan Tannehill
Tannehill often gets lumped in with some of the promising young quarterbacks in the league, but I'm not sold on that. He did post a career-high 4,208 passing yards last season, yet finished just 15th in the league in touchdown passes. More importantly, he threw 12 interceptions - 12th in the league - and fumbled eight times. He also hasn't proven to be a leader, something this team is counting on him being. This might be a make-or-break year for Tannehill.
DT Earl Mitchell
Mitchell was brought in by the Dolphins for the 2014 season to help sure up their run defense, but he has done nothing of the sort (given, Suh didn't last year, either, but we'll touch on that in a second) as Miami ranked fourth worst in the league against the run last year. He had very little impact last season, recording just 22 tackles in 12 games, and didn't record a single sack. In fact, he only has 5.5 sacks over his six year career. He appears to the weak link on a defensive line that includes Suh, Cameron Wake and Mario Williams.
DT Ndamukong Suh
Suh doesn't escape this list without accepting his part of the blame, either. The man who signed the richest defensive contract in NFL history (at the time) didn't live up to the billing - at all. He didn't make any kind of significant impact for most of the season, freelancing way too often while leaving massive running lanes open behind him. It may have just been an off year, but Miami needs him to start be Ndamukong Suh again sooner rather than later.
