The Miami Dolphins have had some of the best players in NFL history, but that doesn’t mean they’ve had a few bad misses in the draft along the way. Here are are the biggest draft busts in team history:
3) WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (No. 9 pick in 2007)
Ginn is still in the league, but he's failed to live up to the expectations that came when the Dolphins drafted him in the top 10. Miami was hoping to use the speedster as a Devin Hester-type gamebreaker in the return game and a deep threat in the passing attack, but he never developed.
In his three seasons with the Dolphins, he caught just 128 passes for 1,664 yards and five touchdowns while returning one punt and two kickoffs for touchdowns. To make things worse for Miami, he was picked ahead of Patrick Willis, Marshawn Lynch, and Darrelle Revis.
2) RB David Overstreet (No. 13 pick in 1981)
After a successful caeer at Oklahoma, Overstreet got into a contract dispute with the Dolphins and ended up in Candad playing for the CFL's Montreal Alouettes for two seasons.
He finally made his NFL debut in 1983, rushing for 392 yards and a touchdown in 14 games. Unfortunately, he was killed in a car accident that offseason.
1) WR Yatil Green (No. 15 pick in 1997)
Green put up unimpressive numbers at Miami (FL), catching 84 passes for 1,477 yards and 10 touchdowns in three seasons with the Hurricanes.
However, Green never really got a chance to show what he could do on the field as injuries ended his first two seasons before training camp was even over. When he was finally healthy, Green played in eight games in 1999, catching 18 passes for 234 yards and one touchdown.
After that season, Green never played another down in the NFL.
