MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's tennis team (5-4) won its second straight match at home on Sunday morning, downing visiting Southern Illinois (4-6), 6-1, in non-conference play at the Racquet Club of Memphis.
Memphis started with wins at two and three doubles to take the early 1-0 lead. Since the ones were close to completion, they also finished that match and the Tigers added a third win there as well.
Freshman then extended her team-best winning streak to three matches with a 6-0, 6-2 win at five singles. Senior followed just minutes later with a 6-1, 6-0 win at four singles for a 3-0 Memphis lead.
