MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team were stunned at the buzzer, falling to George Washington 64-63 Sunday afternoon. Memphis has a 1-3 overall record.
Despite 14 points from Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu, 13 points from Jamirah Shutes and 12 from Madison Griggs, the Tigers fell in a battle that was truly until the final buzzer.
Memphis started the game aggressively on defense, forcing seven first-quarter turnovers from George Washington. Though the offense wasn't there early on for the Tigers, the defensive intensity kept the home team in the game.
