MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Propelled by a 24-point performance by freshman guard Jamirah Shutes, the University of Memphis women's basketball team hit clutch shots down the stretch to edge Tulsa by a score of 59-56 Saturday afternoon. The victory improves Memphis to 9-12 on the year and 4-4 in American Athletic Conference play.
Shutes' 24-point game was the third 20-point performance for the Brownsville, Tennessee native and it was the ninth time this season she led the Tigers in scoring.
"I thought she was aggressive tonight, she read things well," said head coach Melissa McFerrin on Shutes.
