Volleyball Welcomes Andrea O'Connor To Program

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis volleyball head coach Sean Burdette announced Thursday that Andrea O'Connor is joining the Tigers program for the 2019 campaign.

O'Connor, a transfer from High Point University, brings the Tigers' 2019 class to eight. In November, Memphis added six newcomers in Jada Birkel, Sabria Cooper, Gigi Crescenzo, Anna Hayes, Mia Migliore and Caitlin Schultz. Kinkaid Padgett joined the Memphis program in May.

Redshirted her freshman season at High Point in 2018 … A Millis Scholar-Athlete …

Played four seasons at Stamford High School … Starter for the Black Knights for three seasons (2015-17) … Became the first player in Black Knights program history to collect 1,000 or more kills in a career … Hit the milestone in late September of her senior campaign in 2017 … Finished her career with 1,348 kills and 289 blocks, both Stamford High School program records …

Served as team captain her senior season … Earned All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) and Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) All-State Class LL first team honors … Had 452 kills, 106 blocks and 61 aces in 2017 … Helped lead squad to the FCIAC quarterfinals and Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) Class LL second round …

As a junior in 2016, helped lead Stamford High School to the CIAC Class LL state championship … The title was the first in school history … Also led the Black Knights to the FCIAC tournament crown … Team finished season with a 23-3 record … Named MVP of the CIAC Class LL state and FCIAC tournaments … Had 23 kills in the state championship match victory … Earned MaxPreps.
