MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis' Hannah Flowers tied a career-high for blocks and Meredith Wallace had a double-double, but visiting Wichita State came away with a hard-fought 3-2 American Athletic Conference victory in the Elma Roane Fieldhouse Friday night.
The Shockers won the Tigers' league home opener by scores of 26-28, 25-17, 27-29, 25-19 and 15-12. The setback dropped Memphis to 11-4 overall and 0-3 in The American. Wichita State improved to 4-11 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Flowers had six total blocks, tying her career-best she set twice last season versus Central Arkansas and SMU.
