PHILADELPHIA – Too many mistakes proved too much to overcome Saturday for the University of Memphis.
Three first-half turnovers created an early 16-point deficit for the 23rd-ranked Tigers and a fourth-quarter Memphis miscue led to a key Temple touchdown. The Owls used the gifts in a 30-28 American Athletic Conference victory at Lincoln Financial Field.
The loss was the first of the season for the Tigers (5-1, 1-1 The American). Temple improved to 5-1 and 2-0.
Although the Tigers suffered a disappointing loss, they came extremely close to pulling off a comeback and remaining unbeaten.
