BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Memphis men's distance medley relay won gold to pace the Tigers' effort in first-day action at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Friday. The two-day league meet concludes Saturday.
The distance medley relay of , , and took first in the event in a time of 10:04.23. The Tigers took the relay crown by a mere :00.33 seconds ahead of second-place Connecticut. The gold was the first indoor medal of any kind for Tate and and Norment. For Gunnarsson, it was his second career indoor gold, as he was a member of the first-place 4x400 meter relay in 2017.
