TULSA, Okla. – For the first time the Memphis Tigers are champions of the American Athletic Conference, as the fourth-seeded Tiger women's tennis team bested third-seeded Tulsa, 4-1, Saturday evening in Tulsa, Okla.
With the win, No. 55 Memphis (20-6) earns a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history, along with 2013. The Tigers' 20 wins on the season are their most since winning 23 matches in 1987.
Memphis will learn its NCAA Tournament destination during the NCAA.com Selection Show on Monday, May 2 at 5:30 p.m. The first round of the tournament begins Friday, May 6.
