MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In the rubber match of a three-game set at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field Sunday, the Memphis Tigers (12-5) rode early offense and strong pitching in an 11-2 win over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (10-8). The Tigers scored three runs in the opening frame while the Memphis pitching staff got out of a jam in the eighth to take the series after dropping the series opener Friday.

How it happened:
- CF Zach Wilson led off the bottom of the first with a double and scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly from SS Ben Brooks
- Five straight Memphis hitters reached with two outs in the opening frame, as DH Jacob Compton tallied his fourth home run of the season, while RF Sterling Turmon drew a bases loaded walk that put Memphis in front 3-0
- Compton had an RBI double in the second inning, while Gartman gave an RBI double to 3B Connor Kiffer in the fourth, as Memphis took a 4-1 lead into the sixth
- The Tigers added three insurance runs in the sixth, as 3B Logan Kohler plated a run on a bunt single and Brooks followed with a two-run base hit that put Memphis ahead 7-1
- After the Cougars picked up a run in the seventh, they loaded the bases with only one out in the eighth against LHP Daniel Casto
- Kendrick relieved Casto and got Kiffer to line into an inning-ending double play and keep the Tigers in front 7-2
- Memphis then sent 10 men to the plate in the eighth, as C Tanner Booth picked up a two-run single, LF Ian Bibiloni added a run with a base hit, and Wilson drew a bases loaded walk, which made it 11-2 Memphis, the eventual final
Notables:
- With four singles, Brooks became the first Memphis hitter this season with at least four hits in a game
- Brooks and 2B Austin Baskin each extended their respective on-base streaks to 17 games
- Compton's home run was his third of the week and part of his fifth multi-RBI game of the season
- Booth recorded his first multi-RBI game of the season, while Brooks added his third
