MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A 10-yard touchdown pitch and catch from Riley Ferguson to Anthony Miller secured Memphis its second consecutive year with a win over a top-25 opponent, as Memphis beat No. 18/21 Houston on Friday afternoon by a 48-44 score at the Liberty Bowl.
Last season Memphis beat 12th-ranked Ole Miss at the Liberty Bowl, and this year it was the Houston Cougars that fell victim to a final-drive comeback.
Anthony Miller hauled in a career-high and school-record 15 passes on the day for 169 yards, as Phil Mayhue had six catches for 142 yards.
