MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis baseball completed a three-game sweep of Dayton on Sunday afternoon in a rain-condensed, seven-inning 9-2 victory at FedExPark.
At the plate, the Tigers struck for four runs in the second inning and three in the third to build an early cushion, while another strong pitching performance kept Dayton at bay.
Drawing his second start of the season, freshman Blake Wimberley scattered three hits and an earned run across four innings of work. The Eads, Tenn., native, whose brother Bailey Wimberley earned the win on the mound on Friday, also struck out six Dayton batters in his first career victory.
