MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Playing in the program's first postseason since 2015-16, the Memphis Tiger women's basketball team will play host to Jackson State in the first round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament on Thursday night.
Memphis (20-10, 11-4 AAC) earned the American Athletic Conference's automatic qualifying bid after they secured the 2-seed in the AAC Championship following a seven-game win streak. After defeating UCF in the Quarterfinals and moving on to the team's first ever AAC Semifinal game, the Tigers would fall to the eventual champions, East Carolina.
For the season, Jamirah Shutes leads the team with just under 15 points per game while Madison Griggs and Emani Jefferson are combining for nearly 25 points.
