ORLANDO – University of Memphis forward Kyvon Davenport was named to the American Athletic Conference all-tournament team Sunday, a day after the Tigers were eliminated in the semifinals of the event at the Amway Center.
Davenport, a 6-8 junior from Gainesville, Ga., averaged 18 points and 7.6 rebounds in the U of M's three tournament games: wins over USF and Tulsa and a semifinal loss to top-seed Cincinnati, the nation's eighth-ranked team. Cincinnati won the tournament title Sunday, 56-55, over No. 3 seed Houston and UC's Gary Clark was named Most Outstanding Player.
Davenport opened the tournament by scoring a career-high 27 points in the Tigers' 79-77 victory over USF.
