LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The University of Memphis will enter the final round of The Windon Memorial Golf Classic Monday within striking distance of the leaders.
The Tigers, playing in their second fall tournament, posted a 3-over-par 579 on the opening 36 holes Sunday, 12 shots behind leader Michigan State. Memphis is in fifth place, trailing Michigan State (567), UCLA (574), Northern Illinois (575) and Marquette (576) in the 16-team field.
The final 18 holes of the 54-hole event will be played Monday.
After the Tigers played the first 18 holes at 1-over 289, they were tied for third with defending champion Northwestern and Indiana.
