NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Led by Chase Harris and Rodi Vlasveld, the University of Memphis men's golf team shot 19-over 587 on the opening day of the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate. The Tigers are in fifth place going into Tuesday's final round.
Harris, a junior from Jackson, Tenn., fired rounds of 72 and 68 and Vlasveld, from the Netherlands, posted scores of 70 and 72 during Monday's competition at Richland Country Club. Par at the 6,943-yard course is 71.
Rice held the lead at 3-over par in the 14-team event. Trailing Rice was Western Kentucky (+12), Lipscomb (+12), Cincinnati (+18) and Memphis (+19).
