MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team fell in the rubber match Sunday afternoon to UCF by a score of 10-6 at the Tigers Softball Complex. The Tigers drop to 23-18 on the year and 4-5 in American Athletic Conference play.
Memphis was unable to overcome early scoring by UCF as the Knights put up five runs in the first three innings.
The Tigers got runs back in the third, fifth, sixth, and seventh, but UCF had an answer to keep its distance from Memphis. After the Tigers already scored two in the bottom of the sixth, a foul ball by Lindsey Stickrod landed just inches away from being another hit that could have resulted in more Tiger runs crossing the plate.
