MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis women's tennis suffered a 6-1 setback against SEC opponent No. 15 Vanderbilt Sunday.
Senior Katherine Cao and sophomore Aran Teixido Garcia defeated Vanderbilt duo Christina Rosca and Emma Kurtz with 7-6, 7-4 sets, but Vanderbilt ultimately took the doubles point after claiming courts two and three.
In singles, freshman Sophie Abrams lost the first set 2-6 against Emma Kurtz. She came back to win 6-3 in the second set and 6-0 in the tiebreaker. Vanderbilt claimed the other five courts.
Next up for the Tigers is a road match against Mississippi State on Friday.
