ST. LOUIS, Mo. – In an early-season heavyweight battle, the Memphis Tigers nearly completed a second-half comeback, but ultimately fell to Saint Louis 90-84 Tuesday night inside a raucous Chaifetz Arena.

Senior DeAndre Williams recorded a double-double with a team-high 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Kendric Davis finished with 18 points, four assists and three boards.

Kenonte Kennedy added 10 points and four rebounds in 20 minutes.

The Tigers trailed for nearly 37 minutes and even found themselves down by 15 with 4:36 to play, but stingy defense and gutsy buckets pulled Memphis to within 86-84 with 1:06 remaining on a tough layup from Davis.
