COLUMBIA, Tenn. – While the Memphis offense got off to a hot start against nationally ranked Tennessee, the Volunteer's hot hitting overtook the Tiger's start and handed them the 8-4 loss.
Following today's game, Memphis moves to 9-16 overall.

How it happened:
- Kendall Lee put the Tigers on the board in the top of the first inning when she hit an RBI-single to left-center field and brought Alexis Dale across the plate.
- The scoring continued in the top of the first when Taylor Smrt notched her first career homerun with Memphis when she homered down the left field line for a three-run shot to extend the Tiger's lead out to 4-0.
