Tigers Drop Series Finale to East Carolina 15-1

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In a game that was much more competitive than the final score, the Memphis Tigers (21-24, 5-13) trailed 2-0 after half an inning and trailed just 4-1 after seven frames before the East Carolina Pirates (30-18, 14-4) scored 11 times over the final two innings in a 15-1 victory that earned the Pirates the series sweep and kept them atop the AAC standings.

How it happened:

  • For the second straight day, the Tigers trailed before they took their first at-bat, as the Pirates used three two-out hits to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first
  • Memphis answered in the home half of the first, as SS Ben Brooks connected on his third home run of the season, which pulled Memphis within a run trailing 2-1 after one inning
  • The Pirates got a run in the third on a sacrifice fly and another in the fourth on an error, as the visitors led 4-1 after 3.
