TAMPA, Fla. – The Memphis Tigers fought back after falling behind 2-0 in the first 19 minutes of the match but could not complete the comeback in a 2-1 defeat at No. 21 USF Saturday night in Tampa, Fla.
The 14th-ranked Tigers (7-2, 5-1 AAC) saw their five-match winning streak come to an end. USF (7-0-1, 6-0 AAC) clinched at least a share of the American Athletic Conference championship with the victory. The Bulls have 18 points on the season, with Memphis right behind with 15.
After the Bulls scored in the 9th and 19th minutes, Memphis' Grace Stordy got the Tigers on the board with a 36th-minute goal off an assist from Stella Downing.
